The Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine is the first large scale purpose built facility of its kind in the UK and the first BREEAM excellent research laboratory in the world. Having received commendation in the Future Buildings category at the Scottish Design Awards 2011, the building has already been recognised for its pioneering design and beneficial influence on the industry.
The Pilkington Profilit™ system forms a key component of the centre’s open-air internal courtyard, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Bio-quarter, the scene encapsulates the momentous work carried out in this hub for life sciences, whilst taking in the adjacent Project Elegance and its prominent Reglit facade.
Paying compliment to the research undertaken within the facility, the cellular nature of the installation comes together in staccato form to create a naturally flowing master entity. Standing at an impressive height of 10.5m, this substantial facade seems suspended between the courtyard floor and the sky above, lending it a weightless and awe-inspiring appearance.
