The Pilkington Profilit™ U-profile glass system was used extensively by the architect to create a dramatic visual effect to the exterior of the theatre, whilst ensuring functionality by maintaining excellent light transmission and privacy. The Profilit™ system comprises of translucent cast glass 'planks' fitted into an extruded perimeter frame to offer a simple, yet structurally rigid and aesthetically stunning building element.

 

Within the scheme, the Profilit™ system was used for both the external cladding of the lecture theatre, and the creation of an internally glazed 'light box' within the reception area.
