October 2008
Following Westcrowns Contracting Services’ success at the South Lanarkshire Business Awards earlier this year, the company has been nominated at the National Training Award 2008, another prestigious competition.
Working in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, South Lanarkshire Council, John Wheatley College and Routes to Work South, Westcrowns Contracting Services have developed unique tailor-made programmes to recruit and train unemployed people for their flooring and glass divisions, respectively Harndec Flooring and Reglit Glass Architecture. Over the last year, about 30 people from the local area of Rutherglen have benefited from the Training Schools with the successful candidates now enjoying full-time employment at the company.
It is for this reason that WCS have been nominated in the prestigious Partnership and Collaboration Award category at this year UK Training Award Competition. The Scottish Training Award Ceremony will be held on Thursday 30th October at the Hilton Glasgow Hotel and will be hosted by the Scottish comedian Fred McAulay. Fingers crossed that we will be successful and we will update you shortly on the outcome.
