POWER ROAD STUDIOS

The focal point of the project is the vast expanse of backlit Reglit glass that forms a full height wall to the café area. The glass extends some 7 metres above the bar area, forming what is the largest wall of its kind in the country. The glass channels have been sandblasted on the internal faces of both layers giving an opaque look by day but come to life at night with the activity in the offices behind creating moving silhouettes.

The construction of the wall provided several logistic problems, which had to overcome. These varied from the glass not fitting into conventional sandblasting booths, the need for specialist transportation and the actual physical installation on site. The biggest problem came from the setting out of the screen.

As many of the original features of the building have been retained, the glass had to change height in three places to accommodate the beams supporting the floor above and the new stair landing. By working closely with the architect we were able to overcome these problems during the design and installation stages and successfully complete the wall
