LANCEFIELD QUAY

Lancefield Quay lies on the banks of the River Clyde in the heart of the city of Glasgow. Designed by Glasgow architects Cooper Cromar, this contemporary new high specification residential development is the first part of the major regeneration of the Clyde waterfront. Cooper Cromar’s design has culminated in a dynamic and striking building, with the architects specifically choosing materials that fitted with their vision of combining function with style. The 260-unit loft-style apartment scheme takes the form of a 10-storey frontage with feature accommodation over the top 2 floors set back from the façade.

The façade to Lancefield Quay is highly glazed with balconies and amenity terraces incorporated within the design of every apartment, which use the stunning waterfront location to their maximum benefit.

To the rear of the development, the courtyard stair cores are expressed as solid elements, which are glazed with Pilkington Profilit ™ over the top 4 floors and act as visual “light boxes” at night. The architect chose to use vertically installed NP26 Blue Amethyst for these “light boxes.” By night, the thirteen stair towers have a radiant glow, which can be seen from the landmark Kingston Bridge and beyond. Yet by day, the stunning blue glass contrasts well with the white render of the stair towers, and allows maximum levels of natural daylight into the interior.

The completed scheme makes a vibrant and contemporary, yet lasting contribution to the ongoing development of the River Clyde frontage.
