Reglit Glass Architecture were delighted to be involved in this exciting development of Northumbria University towards the east of Newcastle city centre. The new City Campus is a 16,000 square meter facility, hosting up to 9,000 students.
5 STAIR TOWERS, EACH 6 FLOOR HIGH
Reglit Glass Architecture’s main and noticeable contribution was made on the glazing of the 5 gigantic stair cores. We installed glass on 2 stair cores at each end of the Law & Business School and on 3 stair cores at the Design School.
The SP26 Amethyst (Blue) Wired type of glass was used on all elevations and installed double glazed. A ‘Plus’ coating was applied to the internal surface of the internal panels on one of the elevations, achieving a U-value of 1.8 W / (m²k).
Combined with changing lights installed inside the stair cases, the translucent Profilit Glass gives a dramatic look to the building. On this rather ambitious scheme, associating sustainability and design, Reglit Glass has proven to successfully deliver an outstanding glazing system.
