ARSENAL EMIRATES STADIUM

The new home of Arsenal Football Club, The Emirates Stadium, is the 25th football venue to have been built in the English Premier League during the past two decades. However the highly acclaimed 60,000 seat stadium eclipses any of its predecessors.

Part of a broader project that involved the whole urban and social area, the new Arsenal Emirates Stadium is a new kind of urban stadium. Designed by HOK Sport, the football venue had to fit a spatially complex triangular-shaped site.

To that end, HOK devised a glass and steel construction that it expects to sparkle in the sunlight and glow at night.

Its elegant oval form differentiates it from the familiar massive rectangular infrastructures.

Megastore

At Reglit Glass Architecture, we have been honoured to supply our glass panels and expertise to the new Arsenal Stadium Megastore as well as to the Headquarters building on what has been one of the most prominent projects that Reglit Glass Architecture has been involved with.

For the first part of the building scheme with HOK Sport for Arsenal, Reglit Glass Architecture supplied and installed the shop front area to the Megastore and box office at street level.

Glass panels were installed to form a double-skinned wall that encapsulates the structure. Our glazing system proved its ability to interface with doors, display windows and ticket desks with the extensive use of stainless steel pressings.

The glass system supplied allows excellent natural light transmission during the day and a glowing effect at night.

Headquarters

The second part of the scheme consisted in erecting a building to host Arsenal new headquarters; a great challenge for Reglit Glass Architecture.

Working closely with HOK Sport architects, the intention was to develop a “Fast track” building that would match the stadium look. The overall program stretched over 18 months with Reglit participating from inception to completion.

Being involved at a very early stage as part of the design team was vital on such a complex building. The project covered nearly all aspects of what our system can do.

The glass panels had to adapt to slopes, doors, security gate, support structure, soffits, terraces, handrails and windows. This demanding build required the use of a vast range of glass types - Profilit™ SP26 cast and clear, double glazed and single glazed - and of technical specifications such as corners, wind anchors and expansion joints.

The flexibility of our system enabled our installation team to overcome on-site technical issues.

Supported by the entire team of architects, the end product looks fantastic against copper cladding and glass bricks.
